Brian Wheeler is a Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer for Oak Ridge Natural Resources. Brian is responsible for the technical evaluations performed by the company, including reserves management and development of existing assets, as well as technical due diligence of potential acquisition opportunities. Prior to joining Oak Ridge, Brian spent 9 years as Vice President of Engineering at Premier Natural Resources with oversight of the Engineering, Geology, Land, and Information Services departments.
Before joining Premier, Brian spent 11 years at Vintage Petroleum where he worked primarily within the Acquisitions Group. At Vintage, Brian evaluated projects covering both US and international operations. At the time of the sale of Vintage to Occidental Petroleum, he was serving as Acquisitions Engineering Advisor and Evaluation Team Leader.
From 2002 through mid-2003, Brian was in Calgary, Alberta as Vice President, Engineering for Vintage Petroleum Canada (VPCI). In this role, Brian headed a Calgary-based reservoir engineering group responsible for acquisition evaluations, divestitures, booked reserves, and general reservoir engineering support to the established company business units, as well as new exploration ventures.
Brian began his career with Exxon Company USA, serving in various engineering and supervisory capacities. At Exxon, his efforts mainly focused upon reservoir engineering assignments in the South Texas, West Texas, and the Rocky Mountain areas. Responsibilities have included conventional and abnormal pressure gas reservoirs, tar sands development, and primary, secondary and tertiary (miscible CO2) oil production. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University, where he graduated with highest honors.
